SUMMARY:Flustered Mustard presents "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" - SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:Get ready Transylvanians — It’s time for The Rocky Horror Picture Show! \n\n\n\nThis spooky season\, join us for a late-night screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (celebrating 50 years!) on the Rooftop with LIVE shadowcast Flustered Mustard. Eager to do The Time Warp? Great! We can’t wait to have you! Never seen it? Throw on your mother’s high heels and fishnets\, ’cause you’re in for a treat! \n\n\n\nThe longest-running midnight movie of all time stars Tim Curry as the kinky yet endearing “transsexual from Transylvania” Dr. Frank N. Furter\, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as his hapless guests Brad and Janet\, Meat Loaf as motorcycle-riding rough trade and author Richard O’Brien as the hunchbacked butler Riff Raff. It’s harmless musical fun—a delightful spoof of Hollywood horror movies and Old Dark House melodramas. Become a part of the movie by shouting out lines with the cast as well as throwing props to mock the action on screen. The Rocky Horror Picture Show was the first—and is still the best—interactive movie experience! \n\n\n\nDressing up is HIGHLY encouraged! Rocky Horror isn’t Rocky Horror without the corsets and lipstick. \n\n\n\nEach ticket includes a Prop Bag (a $5 value) with all the necessary items for the evening. For the safety of everyone involved\, outside Prop Bags will NOT be allowed at the screening. Bag checks will happen at the door\, so please use common sense (dangerous items will not be allowed in). The cast will have a whole slew of t-shirts\, stickers\, buttons\, and other items for sale as well. \n\n\n\nSaturday\, October 25 from 7pm–11pm on the Rooftop\n\n\n\n\nOfficial Flustered Mustard prop bag included for each guest\n\n\n\nDrinks and food will be available for purchase\n\n\n\nRooftop opens at 7pm\n\n\n\nLive pre-show begins at 8pm\n\n\n\nScreening begins at 8:30pm\n\n\n\nLots of time before and after the film to enjoy the Rooftop\n\n\n\nSeating is available on a first-come first-served basis\n\n\n\n\n18+ only with valid ID. Ticket includes General Admission for the day of the event. \n\n\n\nSOLD OUT!\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nOh\, look! SUMMARY:Pumpkin Throw Down
DESCRIPTION:Get out your gourds — Halloween is over\, and it’s time to throw out those old pumpkins! \n\n\n\nPumpkin spice? Too basic. Pumpkin pie? Delicious\, but no. Pumpkin chuckin? That’s right\, this City Museum fall tradition is back! Gather up all of your pumpkins\, gourds\, squash\, and any other vegetables you’ve carved a face onto… and throw them off the side of our building! \n\n\n\nSunday\, November 2 from 12pm–3pm on 10th Floor Balcony\n\n\n\nEckert’s Farm has provided a limited number of pumpkins to get us started\, but otherwise it’s BYOP — Bring Your Own Pumpkin! Follow us up to the 10th floor\, where our team will lead you to the Launch Pad just outside the north banquet hall. From there\, you call the shots\, as you chuck your pumpkins off the building and try to hit the target in our parking lot to win some Weirdly Wonderful prizes. \n\n\n\nNew Earth Farms will be composting our pumpkins (or whatever is left of them) after the event\, and they can NOT include any inorganic material\, such as paint\, glitter\, or stickers. \n\n\n\nGeneral Admission or Member Pass required.

SUMMARY:City Nights: Local Dive
DESCRIPTION:This is the last City Nights of the season — don’t miss it! \n\n\n\nCelebrate the art and artists of our inimitable city by collaborating on a collective art piece in one of the most unique places in STL! St. Louis Arts\, Garden Heart Productions\, and St. Louis-based artist McCrae present PIECES: An Interactive Art and Music Experience. \n\n\n\nPIECES is an immersive\, multi-sensory experience within City Nights that invites guests to unleash their creative side and explore how art\, dance\, and music connect us. Each installation—painting\, puzzles\, and performances—represents an individual ‘piece’ of a larger whole. As attendees move through the area\, they contribute to collaborative art forms\, culminating in a shared sense of creation and connection. \n\n\n\nThe PIECEAt the heart of this project is a recently discovered geometric shape known as “The Hat\,” or the Einstein tile. It is a single shape that tiles infinitely without ever repeating the same pattern twice. This discovery\, made in 2023\, bridges mathematics\, design\, and art in a way that invites endless creative participation. \n\n\n\nThe Interactive MuralGuests collaborate on a live mural guided by local artists. Participants are invited to paint small portions under artist direction as the mural evolves throughout the evening. The final composition symbolizes the collective creativity of all attendees. \n\n\n\nThe Community PuzzleEach guest receives a puzzle piece as they enter. Guests add their piece to a large communal puzzle within the event space\, revealing a final image that represents unity and togetherness. \n\n\n\nThe Music & Dance ZoneA vibrant space featuring live interactive dance performances and real-time musical collaboration. Performers and musicians feed off audience energy\, encouraging guests to move\, groove\, and express themselves freely. \n\n\n\nFriday\, November 14 from 7pm–11pm\n\n\n\n\nPlay all day\, party all night: Your event ticket includes General Admission for the full day of the event\, so you can arrive as eagerly early or fashionably late as you wish\n\n\n\nAdults only: We’re closing early so you can party! SUMMARY:Art of the Sign
DESCRIPTION:Bill Christman\, founder of Beatnik Bob’s\, was a close friend of Bob and Gail Cassilly and has had a lasting impression on City Museum. The area dubbed “Museum of Mirth\, Mystery and Mayhem\,” which includes Beatnik Bob’s\, was established when City Museum opened in 1997. It has hosted a myriad of exhibits\, including the now iconic giant underwear. Throughout the years\, this space has had carnival-like atmosphere with live music\, portraitures\, psychics\, a History of the Corn Dog exhibit\, and mankind’s search for nougat. \n\n\n\nPrior to his time at City Museum\, Bill was the head artist of Christman Studios\, where he designed and produced signs\, exhibits\, sculpture\, and theatrical scenery. This exhibit will celebrate Bill’s sign work\, highlight the uniqueness of hand-painted signs\, and explore the definition of what makes a sign. In Bill’s own words\, “The visitor should feel elevated upon perusing.” \n\n\n\nOpening ReceptionFriday\, June 6 from 5pm–7pmBeatnik Bob’s (3rd Floor) \n\n\n\nExhibit DatesFriday\, June 6\, 2025 – Monday\, Sept. 7\, 2026Beatnik Bob’s and Museum of Mirth\, Mystery and Mayhem (3rd Floor) \n\n\n\nIncluded with General Admission or Member Pass.

SUMMARY:And Who Should I Say Is Calling?
DESCRIPTION:If there’s anything we have a lot of at City Museum\, it’s junk. But to Indiana-based sculptor\, puppet maker\, and reclaimed material artist Kevin Titzer\, it’s an exciting opportunity. He specializes in taking piles of what anyone else might consider trash\, scavenging pieces of usable parts\, and turns them into faces\, figures\, and other massive structures for his gallery installations. \n\n\n\n“My approach is improvisational\, using only materials gathered from the community. I arrive a few weeks in advance with nothing\, collect all of the reclaimed building materials\, and construct the final piece\,” Titzer explains as he crisscrosses through towering storage racks of scraps and half-finished projects that occupy some of the private floors within City Museum. \n\n\n\n“The overall design of my installations will develop during creation\, and they depend on what materials or resources are available. I’ve learned to stay open to new directions and utilize the unexpected\,” he continues. “For my project at City Museum I’ll be creating an installation utilizing only things found in the building. I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to dig through the Museums’ extensive collection of reclaimed materials and objects.” \n\n\n\nSo what is he building out of all those old brooms and ladders in Skateless Park? We won’t know until it’s done! Even Titzer doesn’t know yet. He says\, “The only thing I can tell you is that it will have a face\,” and that he often incorporates a narrative into each exhibit\, allowing viewers to discover their own interpretations. \n\n\n\nJoin us for the unveiling of “And Who Should I Say Is Calling?” and meet artist Kevin Titzer at the Opening Reception on Friday\, January 30 from 5pm–9pm. If you want to come back for a closer look\, the installation will be in the northwest corner of Skateless Park through Saturday\, April 4. \n\n\n\nExhibit DatesFriday\, Jan. 30 – Saturday\, April 4\, 2026 \n\n\n\nOpening ReceptionFriday\, Jan. 30 from 5pm–9pm \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSkateless Park on 3rd Floor. Included with General Admission or Member Pass. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n	Buy Tickets	\n\n	\n\n\n\n\nAround and around we go… the City Museum crew has been working around the clock to install a “new” ride on the 3rd Floor — an Antique Children’s Carousel! \n\n\n\nThis (new to us) 1920s-era Herschell “Children’s Delight” was originally refurbished and restored in 1988 by the late Master Carver Carlos Sardina\, who spent decades reanimating these joyful creatures\, and the machines that move them\, from his workshop just outside St. Louis. \n\n\n\nSardina was well-known for bringing damaged or destroyed carousels back to life\, including the antique rides at Six Flags Over Mid-America\, Highlands Park (now in Faust Park)\, and a steam-powered relic that spun at Union Station before their current “newer” model from 1915 took its place. The original aluminum figures for our Antique Children’s Carousel were mostly lost or damaged by the 1980s\, so Sardina hand-carved all 20 of the unique wooden animals you’ll find circling it now. He meticulously recreated the Illions and Heyn-style horses\, Bayol-replica rabbits and donkeys\, Heyn replica zebras\, and a Devos-style cow that children loved as it toured around the Midwest for decades. \n\n\n\nAnd so after a brief retirement\, and a little TLC from our crew\, the Antique Children’s Carousel is back in business! Join us as we celebrate its Grand Re-Re-Opening with two full weekends of 1920s-era entertainment\, reminiscent of the golden age of amusement parks and mechanical marvels. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOh\, look! These particular\, peculiar robots are built with everyday objects by St. Louis artists Bill Christman and Dave Rudis. \n\n\n\nDave Rudis discusses his process for creating the sculptures you will see: “My body of work takes found everyday discarded materials and transforms them into artistic compositions. The majority of materials used were destined for landfills; items are found in dumpsters\, allies\, roadside finds or provided by people in the community. Creations are either assembled with mechanical fasteners or welded. The materials use can vary from kitchen drawer handles\, old lamps\, miscellaneous scrap metal or whatever I can find.” \n\n\n\nCome be a part of the Robot Renaissance and find enlightenment!

SUMMARY:314 Day Scavenger Hunt
DESCRIPTION:Find your STL spirit on 314 Day at one of St. Louis’s most iconic places. Celebrate 314 day with a scavenger hunt at City Museum! \n\n\n\nWilly Wonka had a golden ticket\, Air Bud had a golden retriever\, and we have a golden… shoe heel? \n\n\n\nFrom the late-1800s through the mid-1900s\, St. Louis was second only to New York in terms of garment manufacturing\, especially for dresses and shoes. At one time\, Washington Avenue had more shoe manufacturers than any other street in the world and was deemed “Shoe Street\, USA.” This included the International Shoe Co. factory in what is now The Last Hotel. \n\n\n\nOur building\, which is connected to The Last Hotel by a breezeway\, was International Shoe Co.’s warehouse. You may already be familiar with a few things the original tenants left behind\, such as the supply chutes that became the spiral slides in the Enchanted Caves\, as well as the roller spindles (which we recently repainted!) that carried packages down to the loading docks. They also left us some slightly less useful items… like thousands of leather shoe scraps. \n\n\n\nBut one man’s trash is another man’s treasure shoe heel! To celebrate the history of St. Louis\, the Garment District\, and our own digs on this area-code themed holiday\, we’ve dusted off 314 shoe heels\, painted them gold\, and hidden them around the museum. \n\n\n\nWe challenge you to scour every corner of the Enchanted Caves\, Architecture Hall\, Beatnik Bob’s\, and the rest of the museum to claim your prize — that’s right\, every golden shoe heel you find is worth a prize! Turn your hard work and minor history lesson into candy\, City Museum swag and apparel\, or even a pair of tickets for your next visit. \n\n\n\nIncluded with General Admission or Member Pass. Each golden shoe heel may only be redeemed once and must be redeemed during open hours (9:30am–10pm) on Saturday\, March 14. \n\n\n\n\nOh\, look! SUMMARY:City Nights: Oktoberfest
DESCRIPTION:Buy Tickets\n\n\n\n\n\nFriday\, September 18 from 7pm–11pm\n\n\n\nGrab your dirndl or lederhosen and put on your dancing shoes\, because it’s time to kick off the Fall season with one of the world’s oldest drinks and Bavaria’s greatest tradition — Oktoberfest! \n\n\n\n“Why is it in September if it’s called Oktoberfest?” Great question! Although the event started with a celebration of King Ludwig’s wedding in October 1810\, local wars\, epidemics\, recessions\, weather\, and other influences have pushed it around the calendar over its 200+ year history. Oktoberfest also absorbed some of the late-Summer/early-Fall agricultural celebrations around the harvest season\, and the modern event in Munich is now scheduled almost entirely in September\, ending the first weekend of October. \n\n\n\nExplore hidden corners\, sip seasonal brews\, and raise a toast with local Oompah band ÜberCool in one of the most unique venues in the city! \n\n\n\n\nTurn the tables: Live music and entertainment by Übercool\n\n\n\nPlay all day\, party all night: Your event ticket includes General Admission for the full day of the event\, so you can arrive as eagerly early or fashionably late as you wish\n\n\n\nAdults only: We’re closing early so you can party!
