SUMMARY:Upcycled Garden
DESCRIPTION:Attaboy\, cofounder of contemporary art magazine Hi-Fructose\, comes to City Museum in downtown St. Louis! \n\n\n\nThe Upcycled Garden installation is an ever-growing and touring concept by Daniel “Attaboy” Seifert\, featuring locally sourced recycled cardboard\, house paint\, and spray paint remnants. While beautiful and organic on the outside\, underneath is a visual diary of the consumption – packaging from gluten-free pizza\, Covid tests\, light bulbs\, and assorted Amazon shipments – that is part of their creation. \n\n\n\nAttaboy started experimenting with these creations as a way to cope with Covid lockdown and rising costs of living\, as well as a therapy for PTSD and a neurological condition he suffered after a car accident. Attaboy does little to no planning prior to starting work on any particular piece\, as he finds the open-ended play of constructing them soothing. Different shapes\, styles\, and groupings of the sculptures are being created all the time\, and the installation is set to grow in 2024 and beyond. \n\n\n\n“I’m thrilled to bring this ever-evolving idea to the visitors of City Museum. I love when art circumvents the usual channels and is made accessible to everyone\,” Attaboy said. “I believe that art can change the way that you respond to the world that you live in and how you operate in it. City Museum embodies this spirit and I’m all too happy to add to its mission in this way\, if only for a few months.” \n\n\n\nThe Upcycled Garden began at a converted mortuary turned gallery in Oakland and has been exhibited at: Uma Gallery\, The Brea City Gallery\, Mainstreet LA\, Art Thou Gallery\, and more. \n\n\n\nJoin us at the opening reception on March 1\, 5-9pm to meet the artist!  \n\n\n\n4th floor in Sullivan Architecture Gallery. General Admission is required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOh\, look! SUMMARY:Physics Bus
DESCRIPTION:Spending a week learning about Physics aboard an old school bus may be the last thing you expect to be excited about\, but this spring at City Museum\, you might just be surprised!  \n\n\n\nThis isn’t any old bus\, and this certainly isn’t your standard high school physics class. This bright purple\, tricked out\, solar equipped\, traveling science museum is filled with hands-on experiments that glow\, zap\, buzz\, float\, surprise\, and delight. This unique experience\, dubbed the Physics Bus\, is the brainchild of Ithaca\, NY based professional tinkerer\, Erik Herman. Now celebrating it’s 20th year\, this mobile wonderland for physical phenomena is pleased to be adding a week-long stop at City Museum to its 2024 national tour.   \n\n\n\nThis Earth Week (April 24 – 27) be sure to stop by and be a part of this eccentric endeavor as recyclables\, discarded tech\, thrift store appliances\, and other everyday objects are transformed by a team of tinkerers-in-residence into interactive contraptions that bend your mind and expand your understanding of the universe around us. Control rainbow-colored magnetic fields\, draw glowing pictures with lasers\, and zap yourself (or your friends!) with energy you create with just the twist of a knob.  \n\n\n\nFollow along during the week as a pile of ‘junk’ slowly transforms into something truly extraordinary\, culminating in a debut exhibition on Saturday\, April 27th. Mark your calendars and get ready for some “wow\,”  because the Physics Bus is coming to town\, and you won’t want to miss it! \n\n\n\nPhysics Bus team on-site for demonstrationsWednesday\, April 24 – Friday\, April 2612pm-12:30pm and 2pm-2:30pm on the 4th Floor \n\n\n\nPhysics Bus parked at City MuseumSaturday\, April 2710am-1pm and 2pm-5pm in the Parking Lot \n\n\n\nIncluded with General Admission or Member Pass. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nOh\, look!
