Grab your dirndl or lederhosen and put on your dancing shoes, because it’s time to kick off the Fall season with one of the world’s oldest drinks and Bavaria’s greatest tradition — Oktoberfest!

“Why is it in September if it’s called Oktoberfest?” Great question! Although the event started with a celebration of King Ludwig’s wedding in October 1810, local wars, epidemics, recessions, weather, and other influences have pushed it around the calendar over its 200+ year history. Oktoberfest also absorbed some of the late-Summer/early-Fall agricultural celebrations around the harvest season, and the modern event in Munich is now scheduled almost entirely in September, ending the first weekend of October.

…also, for our purposes, it’s kicking off a full month of Oktoberfest & Craft Beer Month celebrations in September, plus we had to fit it in before Fright at the Museum takes over on October 1st!

Explore hidden corners, sip seasonal brews, and raise a toast with local Oompah band ÜberCool in one of the most unique venues in the city!

Friday, September 5 from 7pm–11pm

• Play all day, party all night: Your event ticket includes General Admission for the full day of the event, so you can arrive as eagerly early or fashionably late as you wish
• Adults only: We’re closing early so you can party! City Museum will be fully open (outdoor areas depending on weather) during City Nights, so those slides, climbers, and ramps are all yours to explore
• Turn the tables: Live music and entertainment by Übercool
• Arts and crafts: Make your own buttons, art, and other interactive crafts for a special gift or souvenir
• Food, drinks, beer, and cocktails will be available for purchase throughout the museum
• Sample new 4 Hands Brewing products, including City Museum Hard Seltzer!

21+ only with valid ID. Ticket includes General Admission for the day of the event. Outdoor areas (MonstroCity and Rooftop) are included, but access will depend on the weather.
