Spectrum News — The Gateway Arch Park Foundation donated the gears that turned the Millennium Hotel’s roof top restaurant to the St. Louis City Museum. Staff are brainstorming plans for how the gear mechanism will be used for the enjoyment of visitors and hope to unveil that early next year.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch — As anyone who’s been there can tell you, City Museum is almost impossible to take in all at once. There’s an endless cave system, a giant whale sculpture, slides that wind through multiple stories of the former factory Bob Cassilly transformed using repurposed industrial and architectural treasures.

Ladue News — The Antique Children’s Carousel is City Museum’s newest family-friendly addition. The whimsical spinner was manufactured in the 1920s by the Allan Herschell Company of North Tonawanda, New York – one of the most prolific carousel makers in American history.

FOX2 — At Venice Café in Benton Park, the work of mosaic artist Sharon von Senden is everywhere, from the floor to the ceiling. Von Senden died Sunday at the age of 83. Her handiwork has been seen by thousands at Venice Café and in Downtown St. Louis at City Museum. “It’s like a Lay potato chip; you get started and you can’t stop,” von Senden said in 1996. “I’ll never get any place with this. I’ll never be a famous person. But when I’m not here anymore, somebody will have this, and it will be proof that I was alive.”

KSDK — Sharon Von Senden, the self-taught mosaicist behind the expansive and intricate mosaics at St. Louis’ City Museum, has died. She was 83. “She wanted to spread beauty and share it with everyone. She wanted to be part of something greater than herself,” said her daughter, Amy Von Senden.

KSDK — Visitors could bring their jack-o-lanterns and leftover gourds and fling them from the 10th-floor balcony. Prizes were given to those closest to the target.

Luxury Travel Magazine — City Museum, a one-of-a-kind attraction housed in a former shoe factory, offers massive slides, climbing structures, and repurposed architectural elements that make it as much an art project as a play space.

Vocal — The City Museum is not… really a museum. It’s like if a playground and a junkyard had a baby and then gave it a sugar rush. There are slides (the 10-story one is wild), tunnels, caves, random art installations, and an old school bus hanging off the roof.
