St. Louis Dad — City Museum is no stranger to official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ titles. Last spring St. Louisans helped set the record for Largest Gathering of People Wearing Underwear on their Heads (that record has since been broken). Next week, with the Savannah Bananas heading to town, it’s time for City Museum to Go Bananas and attempt another record.

St. Louis Post-Dispatch — City Museum is hoping to set another headwear-related record on April 2: the Largest Gathering of People Wearing Banana Hats. The event is in anticipation of the appearances of the Savanah Bananas on April 4 and 5.

Matador Network — The City Museum was hands down one of my favorite experiences in St. Louis. A place to embrace your inner child, the indoor-outdoor museum is a self-described “architectural playground” that’s filled with an eclectic collection of objects (everything from vintage machines to wacky sculptures and taxidermy) as well as interactive obstacles (think tunnels, slides, and caves).

Condé Nast Traveler — For those who prefer wandering to chasing landmarks, City Museum, a quirky, multi-faceted collection of objects and installations housed in a rehabilitated shoe warehouse, is famously known to be map-free. Guests of all ages are encouraged to explore at their whimsy, whether that’s in front of vintage arcade games or observing a collection of antique home goods or preserved insects.

St. Louis Magazine — In 1997, the late sculptor Bob Cassilly transformed the former International Shoe Factory into a fevered dreamscape of nooks, crannies, giant slides, a rooftop Ferris wheel, and almost innumerable other phantasms. Once you get an eye for them, you’ll spot Cassilly’s sculptures all over the city, including at Rootwad Park and Turtle Playground.
