Millennium Hotel’s revolving axle comes down to earth

St. Louis Magazine — More than 10 years after last powering the revolving restaurant atop the Millennium Hotel, the north tower’s 1,500-pound axle came down this week. But the hulking piece of machinery isn’t headed for the scrapyard: City Museum has agreed to give it a second life.

Spectrum News — The Gateway Arch Park Foundation donated the gears that turned the Millennium Hotel’s roof top restaurant to the St. Louis City Museum. Staff are brainstorming plans for how the gear mechanism will be used for the enjoyment of visitors and hope to unveil that early next year.
