Puppy Love

On Valentine’s Day Weekend, we partnered with local animal shelter Stray Rescue of St. Louis to host a “Puppy Love” dog adoption event.

Foster parents from across the region brought out dozens of adorable and adoptable puppies for guests to meet, and seeing all the pups reminded us of the many dogs that have been and continue to be part of our museum’s history.

Magnet Von Drasek
2001 – 2018

Magnet was an early City Museum building resident and, despite being raised in such a kinetic environment, was the calmest and most well-mannered Cattle Dog you’d ever meet (unless there was a squirrel or motorcycle passing by). Studio artists in the building knew Magnet from daily walks and this even resulted in a brief modeling feature for St. Louis Magazine, as a photographer in the building recognized this handsome boy had potential, and he was handy for a quick shoot. Magnet is the only canine sculpture featured among the museum’s fish, flora, fauna and fantasy creatures.

Circus Harmony

Maple Caffeina Hentoff
Age 6

The Marvelous Miss Maple joined the circus as a young pup when she became one of Jessica Hentoff’s animal companions. This delightful scruff muffin now serves as the mascot for Circus Harmony. Maple appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where she packed herself into a suitcase. She also has a salted caramel flavor named after her: Maple Circus Caramel by The Caramel House in Olivette. Because she’s Jessica’s dog, Maple also knows how to make coffee. Look for her Miss Maple Makes Coffee and other videos on the Circus Harmony youtube page and as the entr’act in the youth circus shows.

Georgette “Georgie” Hentoff-Killian
Age 7

Georgie is the acknowledged princess of the Circus Harmony office. She is best known for her incredibly long and bushy eyebrows. She is the smallest and the bossiest of the Circus Harmony canine crew. Georgie likes sleeping in and playing fetch.

Kenobi
Age 8

Kenobi is Circus Harmony’s comfort dog and a former employee of Trapeze STL. He enjoys long walks on the beach, playing fetch, and getting all sorts of pets. At Circus Harmony, it is Kenobi’s job to clean up crumbs, make the performers happy, and generally be in everybody’s way. He is terrified of Georgie.
